Snakes and lizards are both reptiles yet they have many characteristics that are very different from another. First is the most obvious, the presence of legs. Snakes are known to have no legs while lizards have four. Lizards walk and run while snakes slither. Lizards have external ear openings that allow them to hear while snakes can only hear through their skull bone.

Snakes cannot close nor blink their eyes while lizards can move their eyes as well as their eyelids. Snakes are very known in shedding their skin once a year. Lizards, on the other hand, shed their tail but it will grow again after some time. Snakes can swallow preys that are three times larger than their heads, thanks to their flexible jaws compared to lizards that do not have this special ability.
