There are so many words in the English language that are often misused because they seem to be the same, even if they are not. Two of these words are “are” and “our.” When you say the word “our,” this means that you would like to claim something like yours with the rest of the other people who are with you. When you use the word “are,” this means that you are using the plural form of “is” that may refer to more than one object at a time.

For example, you may say, “That is OUR bread.” when you mean that the bread is yours. “What we only purchased in the market ARE different types of bread.” The “are” here pertains to the different types of bread that you bought.

Are, and Our are two words of the English language that are often misused. Though they can sound similar, they have two different meanings. Are is a verb, while our is an adjective. Are is the present word of being. An example of this word in a sentence is "They are the cutest couple that I have ever seen."

The word Our is used to describe something that belongs to two people or "us." An example of this word used in a sentence is "This is our new home." Both words also have different origins. Are originates from words "Aren and "Arn," while Our originates from "Oure".
