Wait and weight are two different words. They do not share the same meaning. But the only similarity between wait and weight is that, they are homophones. Homophone means a word that has the same sound as another word but differs in meaning and spelling with the other word. Here, both wait and weight sound the same when you pronounce them, but their spelling is not the same, neither do they have the same meaning. Another example is ''caught and cut''.
