The mitochondria is not a part of the endomembrane system. The mitochondrion is the organelle that is double−membrane bound. This is normally found in eukaryotic cells. There are some multicellular organisms that have cells that do not contain mitochondria. There are also some unicellular organisms that have already changed their mitochondria into some other structures that they would need more.

The mitochondrion is better known as the “powerhouse of the cell.” This will contain and will produce the energy that the cell will need so that it will survive. It will also allow the cell to function properly. It will produce energy by undergoing a certain process wherein glucose is broken down.
