Some people may not be too familiar with the PFMEA and DFMEA. PFMEA stands for Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis while DFMEA stands for Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis. There are some who think that this is one and the same but PFMEA is normally used as an application of FMEA. This can be very helpful for the processes that are usually done by certain organizations or business units.

There are some people who are a bit confused with which one they should use. DFMEA is normally used for product design while PFMEA is used when trying to analyze the processes that have failed. This will be used to check what potentially caused the process to fail.
