Similar to Down’s Syndrome, Edward’s Syndrome is caused by a genetic problem that occurred in the body. It is when there is a third copy of the gene in the chromosome 18. However, this syndrome is lesser known than Down’s Syndrome, but they have several similarities. They are both genetic disorders. These children or babies who are born with Edward’s Syndrome may have other medical issues including kidney problems, heart defects and their intestines may stick out of the body.

There are several physical malformations with Edward’s Syndrome. They may appear with malformations in their ears, jaw, palate, nose, eyelids, eyes and hands. Their hands may appear clenched or closed. This syndrome may cause difficulties with breathing and feeding among other issues.
