Tumblr is considered to be a microblogging site which only allows a short amount of words per blog. Unlike other social media and blogging site, Tumblr only allows a few words at a time. Many different popular sites have realized that their adult content has resulted in problems.

Tumblr is considered to be a microblogging site which only allows a short amount of words per blog.
They may also have realized that there may be a large amount of their usage was geared toward pornography or pushing for prostitution. Craigslist decided to stop their category for dating because it promoted and encourage prostitution. Tumblr found that they had a large quantity of pornography to be displayed on their sites. Therefore, they decided to not allow any adult content and ban it. This took place in the middle of 2013.
