There are ten basic dimensions in the cosmos. Many feel there are more, however there are three spatial dimensions in our universe that are define when it comes to superstring theory though but formally there are nine spatial dimensions and a tenth dimension of time.

The M Theory says there are 11. The dimensions are based on Mathematics and Science as well. We can be certain that it will all change as there is already wide controvesy over how many there are. Some even claim 24 and others claim 26.
