Abortion in Canada has been a sensitive matter and has been debated upon many times in the past . Currently abortion in the country is legal at all developmental state of the pregnancy and the right to abort freely without any form of legal obstacle is being governed by Canada Health Act. It's also informative to know that, Canada is also part of some nations where you can do abortion without any fear of being penalized by the law.

Abortion had been an illegal act prior 1969 with a severe punishment for anybody who indulged in the act, but in 1969, abortion was legalized under the criminal law amendment act of the country. This indeed became necessary because of the revelation by doctors about the physical, psychological and well being of the mother especially for pregnancy which might be as a result of Rape and other sexual assault on females.
