The attitude of Orientalism is destructive and wrong. It is also very misunderstood and few even know about it or realize they are doing it. Others don't care. Orientalism is a form of racism. It takes place when someone, like a particular airway, runs ads that put those in the Orient in a box by posting pictures that catagorize them.

It is basically making fun of their culture but is not always seen as such because it is very subtle. It might have someone Oriental with all the religious, traditional makeup on standing next to a shrine. That is not outright racism but it is also not how most Orientals these days look or what they do. It is much akin to putting a picture up of a Native American with war attire on standing next to a teepee...it is simply not a true deplitction and is a mocking of sorts. The attitude behind it all is what the problem is and it simply must be stopped. It fuels the fire of racism.
