Eutrophication is actually characterized by an abundance or excessive plant and algal presence and growth because of the increased presence and availability of one or more things that limit the growth that is required for photosynthesis to take place. This can be caused by a number of things such as anything that gets in the way of the sunlight, carbon dioxide, and nutrient fertilizers which areneeded to grow these things. Pollution can be one thing that gets in the way.

Air, water, and even soil pollution can greatly diminish the things required for growth and therefore, causes eutrophication to take place. It is baffling and can be complicated but it all boils down to things being adultrated or off balance. If a plant doesn't have enough sun, it cannot grow. It is as simple as that and same with if it cannot get enough nutrients out of the soil or if it is being poisoned by the water it gets or if it doesn't get water.
