There are four major types of water pollution. One is caused from ground water and has to do with run offs and things that are in or on the ground. Then there are chemicals and also natural sources of nutrients that pollute the water because they cause plants to grow too abundantly and cause the water to be unfit to drink. Then, there is surface water pollution that can be caused by people directly or indirectly polluting the actual water itself like people throwing trash into the water or dumping chemical waste into it. There are many types of sub culprits under each of the four main headings.

Anything that makes our water impure is considered to be a pollutant like chemical fertilizers on the lawn or run off from dish washers and washing machines. If people became more aware of the types of water pollution, there would be more hope fof stopping or decreasing it.

There are 7 types of water pollution, and all are important to eradicate. Surface water pollution from our trash such as water bottles, plastics and other waste products. Groundwater pollution is caused by highly toxic chemicals and pesticides from farming that leak through the ground to contaminate the wells beneath. Microbiological pollution is caused by microorganisms in uncured water.

Oxygen depletion pollution from biodegradable material from waste or erosion from farming allows the numbers of these microorganisms increase and utilize the obtainable oxygen so that harmless aerobic microorganisms die and anaerobic microorganisms thrive maybe producing damaging toxins like sulfide and ammonia.

Nutrient pollution comes when awastewater and fertilizers cause algae and weeds to grow and use up the oxygen in the water thereby hurting marine life and other organisms. Suspended matter pollution forms fine silt on the waterbed taking away the nutrients from marine life and disturbing their habitat. Chemical pollution run-off from factories and agricultural pesticides flows into the nearby rivers and water sources and harms the wildlife.
