In Star Trek, Captain Kirk was killed off, much to the chagrin of all his fans and Star Trek fans in general. The actor who played it, William Shatner, cleared this a bit. He stated, that his character was killed off, so that the movie could make more money at the box office. Shatner wasn't crazy about that but...he didn't get to vote. He was actually told his character would die on or off screen so that's that. Captain Kirk was a very beloved part of the show and William Shatner, was one of the greatest actors so this didn't set well with the majority of people.

Still, the movie went on to succeed. Would it have done even better if Captain Kirk was still on it and had not have been killed off? No one can answer that, especially now. Shatner wasn't limited to his acting career though. He was also an accomplished writer. He was one of those people who is multi-talented. Captain Kirk or no Captain Kirk. doesn't Matter now, We just have to deal with the fact that the Character is long gone now.
