What type of verbal operant did you use? Your boss steps into your office and says, "You've got to send that report to me as soon as possible.  I've been waiting forever!"  You say, "Sure thing boss, I'll get right on that," even though that is what you have told him the last 10 times he has asked for that report.  You do not complete the report.

An intraverbal

Correct Answer: An intraverbal. Your verbal behavior is an intraverbal operant since it was evoked by the verbal behavior of your boss. It is not an echoic because you did not repeat the verbal behavior of your boss (even if you use the same response every time your boss asks you for the report, it isnt an echoic unless you echo the words that he just said). A tact is incorrect since your verbal behavior was evoked by the verbal behavior of your boss. Listener responding is incorrect because the scenario never says if you followed through with your boss demand and we were simply analyzing your verbal response of, Sure thing boss, Ill get right on that.*##**##*
