I believe Catalonia will get freedom from the Spanish government, though this might not happen very soon, it will definitely happen one day. Just as it is not always easy for a minority group or an autonomous community in the case of Catalonia to secede with ease from a sovereign state, the journey for the Catalans to actualize this dream might take longer.

However, in the event that Spain continues not to listen to their demands, the independence of Catalonia will definitely happen one day; it will only take more actions from Spain to grief all Catalans into accepting the independent movement of some of the Catalans.

One of the reasons why Catalonia wants to secede totally from Spain is because the autonomous community is not being treated as an independent region. The 2017 referendum of independence conducted by Catalonia is a proof that most Catalans are already in support of this movement.

It is likely that Catalonia will gain freedom from Spain, but it may take more time than they would like. It also may be a very difficult process. It seemed that it would happen a couple of years ago, as Catalonia declared their freedom from Spain in 2017. Yet, Spain did not react the way that Catalonia would have expected them to.

Spain was not in agreement that Catalonia should separate and eventually, their Senate voted against Catalonia gaining their independence. Along with not getting their independence, seven of their ministers were taken prisoners. Other leaders of Catalonia were fearful and left the country.

There was a crisis that came up in October 2017, which was all about Catalonia separating from Spain. This has actually been a very big political crisis in Spain since democracy was restored to the country in 1975. This was after the death of General Francisco Franco, a military dictator then.

Catalonia is actually a place that was claimed to be existing for about a thousand years now. It is a location from which the most productive and wealthiest part of Spain is being produced. In 2006, Catalonia earned a stature, being granted a greater power with a high boost in financial strength, which made them be referred to as a nation.

Much of these were actually reversed by the constitutional court of Spain in 2010. Local separatism and resentment were also encouraged in the local areas of Spain due to a financial crash that happened in the country in the year 2008. However, Catalonia getting freedom from Spain widely depends on how tactical and forceful Catalonia can go, and how willing Spain is. But I don't see the freedom happening anytime soon, if ever.

It does seem that Catalonia will eventually become free from Spain because recently Catalonia declared its independence from Spain. Being apart of the Spanish country, it might be difficult. However, Catalonia has started. In October of 2017, they declared their freedom from Spanish rule. However, Spain did not take it too well. They did not agree with Catalonia becoming separate.

It does seem that Catalonia will eventually become free from Spain because recently Catalonia

Therefore, they voted in their Senate in Spain and they voted against Catalonia becoming their own country. As a result, Spain took seven ministers of Catalonia prisoner. Other leaders in Catalonia fled the country. It would be expected if Catalonia continues to declare their freedom and not do as Spain requires that a war would ensue. Only the future will tell if this will happen.
