Cataracts occur as a result of the clouding of the eye lens in such a way that the supply of light to the back of the eye is not enough for proper sight, thus resulting to poor vision. There are various side effects of cataract, which include the inability to see in dim light, blurred vision, or even total vision loss if left untreated, and night blindness, among few others. In this article, we shall be discussing night blindness as a side effect of cataract. However, night blindness can be defined as the inability to have a clear view in dim light.

Actually, a number of eye situations can cause night blindness, which includes poor vision when viewing faraway objects, this is nearsightedness, clouding of the eye lens, that is a cataract, vitamin A deficiency, and few more. Corrective lenses like contacts or eyeglasses can improve nearsightedness both in the day and night.
