To answer this question, firstly, what are steroids? Steroids are active biological organic compounds that have four rings which are arranged in a particular molecular configuration. The function of steroids in the body is that it decreases inflammation and reduces the performance of the immune system. Steroids can be used to treat several inflammatory diseases. There basically two types of steroids, which are typically different from themselves; we have the anabolic steroids and corticosteroids.

The two types of steroids are under study here. Looking at the relationship between steroids and cataracts, do steroids accelerate the onset of cataracts? It is not everybody that requires steroids that cataracts would be developed in their eyes. The intake of steroids has some side effects on the body system, such as liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, hair loss, altered mood, and many more. Hence, anyone taking the steroids drug should visit the optician often.
