Cataracts, which happens to be the clouding of the natural eyes lens, thereby blocking the supply of enough light for vision is no respecter of age. It occurs in the young middle ages and even more among the old ones. Though it might not be easily identified among the young ones, and it might not be that eminent among these too, unlike the older ones. Cataracts can be present at birth, yes! A baby can be born with a cataract. This is referred to as congenital cataracts.

This simply implies that cataracts are hereditary, and it mostly occurs in the two eyes (bilateral). It occurs in one of every 250 newly born baby. This kind of cataract does not really affect the baby's vision, but the baby's vision can be more affected as he or she grows older. Children can also develop cataracts at the childhood stage, which is known as childhood cataracts. Drug reactions, inflammation, and infections are other causes of congenital cataracts.
