The form of government that the Romans established called the republic has been copied by numerous countries for many centuries. In the United States, their government is primarily established on those principles.

After the Romans gained freedom from the Etruscan conquerors in 509 BC, they were free to establish their own form of government. They set in place what was known as a republic. In this form of government, citizens elected representatives to be rulers on their stead.

In a republic, it is very different from a democracy, where every citizen is expected to play an active role in governing the state. But in the republic form of government, the ones elected by the people as their representatives had the primary task of ruling the state.

It is not surprising that there are some people who are not too familiar with the Roman Republic. The Roman Republic started after the Roman Kingdom ended. This started in 509 BC and this ended in 27 BC. The reason why it ended is because of the creation of the Roman Empire.

The Roman Republic is the time when Rome had a republic government similar to how other countries of today operate. During the time of the Roman Republic, it was more democratic but when this ended and the Roman Empire was put up, this was the time when dictatorship started to reign again. During the Roman Republic, people were more peaceful and they worked as farmers. It was also easier for people from different places to live in Rome at that time.

The Roman Republic took place prior to the Roman Empire. This civilization of Romans took place between 509 BC and 27 BC. Everyone believes that the Roman Empire is when Rome expanded. However, that is not true. During the Roman Republic, this is when Rome and its influence grew outside of the city. There was a period of peaceful time in Rome known as Pax Romana.

Many Romans worked as farmers. There was also a bunch of different types of people from different places who lived during this time in Rome. Many people think their government must have been similar to a democratic society, but instead it was more like an oligarchy. An oligarchy is a government that is ruled by the military.
