During the Revolutionary War, battles, sieges and conflicts occurred everywhere including on land and on sea. With this war, there were several conflicts and battles that were waged on war. As a matter of fact, the first navy in the U.S. took place as a result of the Revolutionary War.

The commander of the navy was John Paul Jones. He coined the phrase “I have not begun to fight.” This occurred in the naval battles of the Revolutionary War. Probably the most famous naval battle that occurred during the Revolutionary War was the Battle of Yorktown.

This was the last battle of the war that allowed the colonists to win the war and their freedom. The French navy helped the colonists defeat the British.
