Many native tribes tried to stay out of the American Revolutionary War. The Iroquois Confederacy was one of them. Some of the native tribes sided with the British and other tribes helped the colonists.

For the colonists, the Tuscarora and Oneida tribes helped. For the British side, the Cayuga, Onondaga, Mohawk and Seneca tribes helped. Since they knew the land, the tribes helped the colonists and British with the area of the land.

Some of the confederacy did not like the Europeans coming over to America which included the British because they brought diseases and they died of them. Some of the Natives were taught how to fight along with the colonists. They also knew how to live off of the land.
