Our grandparents and great-grandparents were known to sleep in separate beds. If you are unsure about that, then watch an older movie or black and white television show where a couple is the main characters.

Now, it is not uncommon to see a house with two master bedrooms. This is so each person in the couple has their own bedroom. You can also see bathrooms with separate sinks. So, it is not unreasonable that people want their own bedrooms.

Some couples snore loudly. If one spouse snores very loudly, then it may keep the other spouse awake. He or she may want to sleep not only in separate beds but in separate bedrooms. There are other factors why people sleep apart from their spouses even though they are happily married.
