An inductor also called a coil reactor, is a passive two-terminal electrical component which withstands changes in electric current passing through it. It has a conductor such as a wire, usually wound into the coil. Energy is cached in a magnetic field in the coil as long as current flows.
Inductors are used with capacitors in wireless communications applications. An inductor attached in series or parallel with a capacitor provides discrimination against unwanted signals. Large inductors are used in power computers. Inductors stockpile energy in a magnetic field when electric current flows through it.
