The liver is an important organ that removes toxins from the body. It is a glandular organ, the largest in the human body and is sited in the abdominal cavity. This has four sections, and the liver lies in the upper right quadrant. The liver is a gland that produces and secretes bile. Excess bile is stored in the gall bladder.

It has the amazing ability to repair itself after injury, but is also vulnerable to alcohol and drug abuse. Cirrhosis of the liver is fatal. It is a large, reddish-brown organ whose role is for metabolism, digestion, detoxification and elimination of substances from the body.
