By definition, satire is making fun of something by poking fun or joking about something. Parodies, on the other hand, are where a story is being mocked and reinterpreted. It is another way of portraying an event or even television show. The new version is usually done in humor and not serious. Therefore, a parody usually makes fun of an event when it is acted out. So, a parody is a type of satire.

All parodies are a form of satire, but not all forms of satire are a parody. There are other forms of satire. Many people get confused whether something is a satire or a parody, but sometimes a piece of work can be both a parody and a satire.
