The correct answer to this question is No. In Islam, dating is not allowed in the religion. Like most religions, Islam has very strict guidelines and rules. When it comes to relationships between a man and a woman, Islam is very different than other religions. If a man is interested in a woman, he would need to marry the woman before he came to become involved with her.

Before marriage, a Muslim man and a Muslim woman are not allowed to be alone with one another. They can only be alone once they are married. If a Muslim man is interested in marriage but does not know any woman of interest, they can ask around to friends for one.

Generally, Islam has similar prohibitions as in many other religions, like Christianity and Judaism. It must be taken into account that those religions came out in a society that’s so different from ours that we cannot begin to comprehend some of the teachings in the key texts. The only difference is that some societies have allowed themselves to develop beyond the social norms of 2000 years ago, others are being pulled down by some extreme interpretations to relive the 7th century today. Islam is no different than Christianity in its prohibitions.

It is Muslim societies that have not been flexible enough to embrace new ways of thinking about such issues and the problem lies in their mentalities regarding new things. So, when it comes to dating, a man and a woman are not allowed to be alone together, and any physical contact before marriage is forbidden.

Hence, Dating is not permitted in Islam. However, If a Muslim man has the desire and willingness to assume marital responsibilities, and he doesn’t have anyone in mind, he might ask his friends, family and relatives if there is a woman that might be suitable for him among their acquaintances and relatives, and then the couple can meet with their family members.

According to Islam, marriage is the purest way of forming a relationship with each other. A lot of Muslims are recommended to undergo fixed marriage with another person whom their family feels will be perfect for the person. Dating is not considered to be halal especially when this is done by the Muslim during his/her teenage years.

There are people from other religions who believe that getting to know each other is vital for people to have a long and lasting relationship. According to Islam, this is not required. Those who are destined to be married will learn more from each other and love each other eventually while they are already married. This keeps them pure before they get married.
