In science, kinematics refers to motion. It does not pertain to how the motion began or what caused it. Mathematics are also part of kinematics. Velocity and speed are included in the calculations of kinematics. Acceleration is also a part of kinematics.
There are formulas used to help figure out the motion of an object based on the speed, velocity and acceleration of the object. People in history used kinematics especially in wars. During World War I, it was believed that a pilot was traveling at an altitude of two kilometers and planes travel fast.
However, it was believed that he caught a bullet with his hands. This is possible according to kinematics, but the plane and bullet would be having to travel at similar speeds in order for the pilot to catch it.
Remember the bullets vertical velocity goes to zero before it starts to return to earth. If this is happening around the height of the plane the pilot could grab it. This would of course take lots of luck and extraordinary timing. But still physically possible.
