The sun is a huge ball of flaming gas. It has a diameter of 1.391016 million km. this makes it the largest celestial body in our solar system. It is composed of numerous layers, with the core being the hottest layer. The sun drives its heat and energy from fission reactions that are constantly taking place on its surface.

Extraordinary diameter signifies its immense size. However, it is not the biggest star I the galaxy. There are many stars that are 100 times the size of the sun. The sun is a mere golf ball in front of these stars. They have been discovered by satellites sent into the galaxy.
