There are different types of energy in this world. One type is called potential energy. This type of energy is the held energy of an object before usually it does something in movement. One example of this is the stretching of a rubber band or the stretching of a bow in order to shoot an arrow.

The point at which the item is stretched shows its potential energy. When the person releases their grip on the item, the energy changes. The person may let go of the arrow and the bow in order for the arrow to shoot forward.

The person may let the rubber band go and it shoots back to its original shape. These are the best examples of increasing an objects’ potential energy.
