Solar radiation is the same as sunlight. However, sometimes, sunlight can bounce off of a surface and cause or spread heat to something around it. For example, sunlight could bounce off of the ground and angle into a window. The glass of the window gets warm.

Then the area inside of the house gets warm because of the warmth on the window. The sun is not directly heating the area inside of the window, but it is indirectly. The same can be said about the atmosphere. The sun’s radiation may heat the air in our atmosphere.

However, it does not directly heat the air. Instead, it does the same as the window. Its heat around the atmosphere cause the air in the atmosphere to warm up due to the heat around it.
