The tumor is removed. involving the least possible amount of tissue.

The tumor is removed to prevent further compression of the lung tissue as the tumor grows. which could lead to respiratory decompensation. If for some reason it cant be removed. then radiation or chemotherapy may be used to try to shrink the tumor.
