The cell component commonly used for personal identification is DNA. In recent times, a lot of people have been tried for different criminal cases using their DNA samples. The reason why this is possible is that it can be used to identify people based on the characteristics of their DNA.

The term that explains this process is known as DNA fingerprinting. It is also known as DNA typing or DNA testing. This process uses a little DNA variations that cannot match with that of any other persons to identify people.

Although there is no difference in DNA sequences of all human beings, DNA testing uses variable number tandem repeats or (VNTRs) to identify individuals. While variable number tandem repeats are similar for those who are related, they are not the same for those that are not related. In other words, no two unrelated individuals are likely to have the same short tandem repeats (STRs).

DNA is often used for the identification of people. DNA is also known as deoxyribonucleic acid. This is known to be a molecule that is made up of two different polynucleotide chains. They will coil around each other so that they can form a double helix.

This is going to be important because the double helix will already have the genetic instructions that are needed for the development and reproduction of the different available organisms. They are also known to be effective for the reproduction of different viruses. DNA will have different biological functions. They can be used for transcription, translation, modification, folding, and so much more.
