Leo Tolstoy was famous in his prime for his writings, especially the for the letters he wrote to Russian Prime Ministers Pyotr Stolypin and Tsar Nicholas II. He was famous in Russia and outside Russia for his literature on Government and politics.

He was known by many great American writers like Henry Garry, William Garrison, Theodore Williams, Edward Garnett, Wait Whitman, Ralph Waldo Emerson and many others.
Many publishing house around the world translated many of Leo Tolstoy works.
