Burning Man’s founders are Larry Harvey, John Law and Jerry James. Even though these three men are credited with beginning the Burning Man and coining the term to describe this event. When the event started with Harvey, he had been going to similar events with his girlfriend’s friend at the time. His girlfriend’s name is Janet Lohr. Her friend is Mary Grauberger.

She began holding bonfire events on Baker Beach for years before 1986 when Harvey and the others were holding their events. However, she stopped holding these gatherings and so Harvey continued with them. He also continued burning the wooden man on the beach and coined the term. This took place in 1988 which is about two years after he began this event.
