Imperialism is the creation of unequal economic, cultural and territorial relationships, and it is based on domination and subordination. It occurs when one country takes control of another country. The general idea is to obtain more land, resources, and power. The attitude of the exploiter is usually selfish and arrogant.

Overall, global attitudes toward the US are positive. Unfortunately, there are those who consider Americans to be pompous and self-centered. The way the US is depicted in the media is also a contributing factor in how other countries perceive Americans. Some foreigners also see Americans as being aggressive, violent, uneducated and crude. America often shocks other nations with its populist cultural response to money.
