Sulfites are commonly called Sulphur dioxide. Sulfites are chemicals that are a presence in some food, either naturally during the process of wine fermentation or additives.

They are not a presence in fresh food and also in some cooked and processed food. Sulfites are used widely in the production of wine.

This helps preserve the freshness, flavor, and also the appearance. They are also used as an additive to block the growth of bacteria and to prevent the wine from spoiling.

Some people experience serious side effects when they consume food items rich in sulfites. They may experience symptoms like sneezing, swelling, hives, diarrhea, and stomach upset.

If you are allergic to sulfites, always ensure to check the label of food that you eat like baked food, Jams, Potato Chips, beer, and wine.
