Why not, if you mean someone from a different culture. It can be very exciting to date someone from a place you've never been to. To be safe, make sure they are not totally different in values, however. It's no fun to date someone who doesn't believe in loyalty and fairness, for instance.
Take it slowly, and find out first what is important to your date. I don't mean whether they fancy blondes or brunettes, muscly hunks or slim ones, depending on your gender, but how they treat their family, what store they set by their community, how committed to their job and so on.
