Many people came to hate the act of slave trading especially the people of Northern states of America, this led to a civil war between people of the Northern and Southern states of America. The Northern state won the war.
A British politician named William Wilberforce worked towards the abolishment of slave trade. The British parliament passed an Anti - slave law on the 25th of March 1807.

Slave trade ended in England around 1807 and it ended in U.S around 1808. Illegal trading of slaves continued especially among the British colonies. Slave trafficking was carried out between Caribbean islands till 1811.
