Italian and English. John Cabot was born in 1450 and his birth name is Giovanni Caboto. He was both an explorer and navigator. John Cabot became interested in sailing and exploration at an early age, which happened when he moved to Venice. Of Italian descent, it would be obvious that he spoke this language.

He spoke English because of his many discoveries in North America. John Cabot is best known for being the first European to explore parts of coastal North America, since the eleventh century. He had support from King Henry VII for his explorations.
