Orchestra became popular in the 19th century. It became bigger and larger in the 20th century. Orchestra was first seen in Greece. Orchestra in Greek refers to the front part of stage reserved for instruments. Violin was the primary string instrument played in orchestra. More instruments were added and removed as time passed.

Johann Sebastian Bach, Gustav Mahler, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart were some of the influential people that made orchestra popular. They composed some of the most popular piece played in orchestra. Kings and wealthy aristocrats had orchestra at their residence to entertain them, most people watched orchestra perform on stages. The composers, musicians and people made orchestra popular in the 19th century.
