Jumbo is the most famous Elephant in the world. It is also the first super star animal. The African Elephant was the star of Barnum and Barley circus. Jumbo was a very big elephant, he weighed about 7 tonnes and he was about 13 feet high. The word 'Jumbo' means large because of the enormous size of this Elephant. Jumbo was bought by P. T. Barnum from the London zoo where it was an exhibit.

Jumbo joined the circus in 1881 and became popular in no time, he became popular at events and shows. Jumbo has inspired many. In 1885, jumbo died from a train accident in Ontario Canada. Jumbo has inspired many. The remains of Jumbo is in University of tufts.
