In an equation, you may see the letter x. This represents a random variable. This variable is one in which there are any amount of values that are possible to resolve the x. There are two types of random variables. The first is a random variable that is discrete. This variable comes in the form of counts, for example 1, 2, 3, 4. An example of a discrete random variable is counting the amount of children in a family or the amount of children in a class. The second type of random variable is continuous. This variable has an infinite amount of possibilities. An example of this is height.
