Typically, trumpets are made of brass. This allows them to have the kind of sound that they need to have, since they’re known for their iconic sound. However, that’s not the only material that trumpets are made out of. Yamaha has made a few with platinum and silver, beginning with an entirely platinum trumpet.

The most common thing for trumpets to be made of, as stated earlier, is brass. It’s often a yellow brass, which is made from a 70/30 mixture of copper and zinc, respectively. This is because the trumpet is classified as a brass instrument. These instruments get their distinctive sound, in part, from the fact that they are made out of brass, unlike woodwind or string instruments that get their sounds from metal or how a string is played.
