There is a long list of trumpet players. However, it’s hard to widdle it down to one specific trump player for all of history. Generally, this is separated into two separate areas: classical trumpet and contemporary trumpet. When classic trumpeters are the only consideration, the vote far and away goes to Louis Armstrong. When it comes to contemporary trumpeters, that’s a little harder.
So, Louis Armstrong is certainly one of the best in the world. There’s no doubt about that. However, other trumpet players make top ten lists, such as Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, and Arturo Sandoval in the generic trumpeter list created when this is searched online. Other lists are more specific, but this is a great example of classic and contemporary artists being put on the same list for “greatest trumpet player in the world."
