Netflix can certainly afford it because of the amount of money that it gets every day. A lot of stars seem to like working for Netflix too because they are taken care of properly. They get paid well and they also take on roles that they find challenging.

A lot of actors who are passionate about their craft would do everything in their power in order to get roles that they would not get to play elsewhere. This explains why a lot of actors would say yes to the roles that they get in Netflix. The more that A-list stars appear on Netflix, the more that people become familiar with Netflix and the shows that it produces. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved.
