Drums traditionally known to be played exclusively by hands include bongos, congas, tablas, naals, dholaks, djembes, and cajons. Although, these drums can sometimes also be played by sticks so I’m not sure if there are any drums known to be played only and always by hands.

Bongos and congas are believed to be of Afro-Cuban origin. Tablas originate from India and Pakistan. Naals also called dohlki, and dholaks, also called dhols, are also of South Asian origin. Djembe drums are of West African origin and Cajons are from Peru.
