A bass guitar somewhat looks similar to a guitar but it has a different role in a musical band. The bass guitar has 4 strings that are much thicker than of a guitar’s. it is because the bass guitar creates the beat alongside with the drums of a song.

The sound it produces is also much deeper just like the bass in voice types than the guitar. In playing the guitar, one is strumming or plucking the strings following the chords but in a bass guitar, there is also chords to be followed but you are slightly pounding the strings.

The guitar strings are tuned an octave higher than the bass literally the sound they will be producing will be the same only the bass will produce much lower sound. Thus, instead of strumming the chords on the bass all the time, the notes of the chords are played separately.

A chord is defined as any group of three or more notes played together. They are typically formed by stacking notes on top of each other to form a scale. To play bass guitar, you need to know major chords and scales. First, gently spread your fingers onto the strings, with each finger close to an adjacent fret.

Keep the tips of your fingers as close to the frets as you can. Vertically, the strings are numbered 1 through 6, from highest pitch to lowest. Play each note in the chord by taking your time, press down firmly on the fret, and pluck the string. Let the note ring for as long as you can, then move onto the next note.
