Taking a portrait is considered by some photographers as challenging. They often feel that it will be harder to capture the beauty of the person behind the lens especially when artificial light is going to be used. The artificial light should be placed in an area wherein the light that it will provide will bounce on a certain surface.
This will help the light brighten up your subject perfectly. You will be surprised with the difference that this can make. Artificial light can always be enhanced by the use of other photography tools. Make sure that you have the right items for sure. If you are not sure yet, you can try to take a photo with the artificial light placed on different areas until you are satisfied with the results.
Do not be bummed if you have to use artificial lighting for photography because you can always make it possible. The artificial light should be arranged in such a way that it will bounce off the wall or some of your other photography items so that the light will be just right on your subject.
This will not make the light too harsh. Harsh lighting can make people look bad. Do not be afraid to experiment where you are going to place the flash of the camera. You may place it on the side just to see if you would like how the light plays out in the photo.
