Known for his military prowess, Julius Caesar was known as a great conqueror. The Roman Empire became one of the biggest areas and empires throughout history. Rome was able to use their military strategies through good leadership like Julius Caesar and gain land by fighting and attacking neighboring countries to gain their land.

However, the problems with gaining so much land through many countries that exist today throughout Europe and Asia is that it is more difficult to control and govern. It would be difficult for one leader to control all of this land. In order to expand a country into what is now hundreds of thousands of miles, it takes a great conqueror to do just that. Julius Caesar was probably the greatest conqueror during the Roman Empire.

Julius Caesar, a politician, and military general; played a pivotal part in the events that led to the collapse of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman empire. Caesar rose to become one of the most powerful politicians in the Roman Republic through many accomplishments, and these included his victories in the Gallic Wars, which were completed by 51 BC. He became the first Roman general to invade Britain. Caesar’s wars extended Rome’s territory to the English Channel and the Rhine.

These achievements granted him military power and threatened to eclipse the standing of Pompey. Civil war ensued. Ceasar’s victory in the war granted him influence and power. He centralized the Republic, and he was proclaimed "dictator in perpetuity." Many historiographers consider Julius Caesar to be one of the greatest military commanders in history.
