True

True, if your exercise intensity and duration are sufficiently high. The longer and more intensely you exercise, the greater the number of calories your body will consume in recovery. In fact, you can burn additional calories for many hours after a long, intense workout. Recreational exercisers (walking for 30-60 minutes or jogging at a pace of 8-10 minutes per mile for 20-30 minutes) typically return to baseline energy expenditure within the first hour, burning only 10-30 additional calories. If you engage in vigorous activity (75 percent-80 percent of your maximum heart rate) for an hour, you will burn an extra 80 to 100 calories over the first three hours. Over a year, that amounts to losing an extra five pounds.
